The Symbian S60 operating system has a top-notch contacts database built into it, but alas the user interface for this database leaves a lot to be desired. Many of the related functions (such as call logs) are handled in separate applications and there is little or no integration between them. Functions that were once standard on virtually all Nokia phones (such as Calling Cards) are missing.

ContactsEx addresses these weaknesses by wrapping a brand new user interface around the exiting contacts database engine. It brings together all of the disjointed call-specific information into one convenient place and provides a level of integration not possible using the native applications.

The program vastly improves upon existing functionality (such as contact groups), but it also offers a slew of contacts-related functions not offered by the native operating system (such as auto-answer, Calling Cards, and Fullscreen Picture ID).
